Following a brief check in and sharing, we discussed the further need to clarify our relationship to Earthwalk Detroit. Are we to be a satellite of Detroit, existing under their bylaws and financial umbrella or are we to be an independent center of Tzaddi?
Being a satellite would bring some organizational benefits in that legal and tax issues would be run through them. However, the questions remain as to how it would work to have two wisdom councils? How much autonomy would we have in dealing with our finances and/or curriculum?
Teresa said that she still needs to check with TopSoil (the head of Tzaddi) to discuss these issues. At the time of this meeting she had sent him a message, but had not heard back from him yet.
We discussed the need to have a short and concise phrase or mission statement that could accompany all correspondence from EarthWalk Ojai so that those not familiar with this community could get sense of our intent. Two phrases were presented:
—EarthWalk is a connecting force for people to share the spirit of who they are.
—EarthWalk is supporting humanity in becoming what it is meant to be.
We agreed on the need for more clarity in regard to what may occur at the monthly meetings and in giving the community more information prior to each meeting.
Suggestions included:
—An email update following each meeting with notes from the previous meeting
—a reminder of the next meeting (place and time),
—the basic structure and format of the next meeting and an agenda of items we hope to address.
